My inspiration came from here. Mine are no where as cute as hers, but i am learning. I like to make cakes, but I haven’t learned any tricks of the trade yet. Hopefully soon...i am attending a cake decorating class at the end of the month.

This is her food storage. She had great tips for buliding up and organizing your food storage, and how to rotate it. She also has a great guide of how much food storage you need for the number of people in your household. My food storage is my pride an joy. I live 7 miles from a grocery store, so to up and go to the store with 3 kids because I don’t have a certain item is a pain. I have so much peace knowing I have what I need in my so called basement grocery store. I totally recommend building up and rotating food storage. It will one day be a blessing to your family!!!

Okay, so it is not like I know the proper way to organize a garage, but here are a few things that inspired me and help me to turn the before picture into the after. I followed some advice from Martha Stewart and then googled garage organization for some ideas on how to organize.

BEFORE

AFTER

What was the process?

1. Pulled everything out of the garage and de-cluttered. I got rid of everything I didn’t need or don’t use.
2. Organized everything by category, i.e. gardening, tools, camping, etc.
3. Visually planned a place for each category pile.
4.	Power-washed the whole place. Did this to get rid of all of the cobwebs and dust. I did this so I could paint the walls.
5.	Painted the walls. Now if you want you can texture the walls, but I didn’t have the money, so I just painted directly onto the sheetrock. The walls look pretty good. You don’t see the tape lines as much as the ceiling. But still looks a ton better than before.
6.	Painted the doors just cuz. and yes accented with our house numbers (see inspiration below)
7.	Hung the shelves and the panel boards and then placed our stuff where it was to go.
8.	Hung the bikes from the ceiling
9.	Epoxy coated the floor for a nice clean finish. It is as simple as following the instructions on the box.
10. Hung the cabinets, pegboard and built a rolling work bench.

Inspiration came from:

A. I really liked how they organized their gardening supplies. However, we didn’t have this much room for gardening supplies so we just did shelving like they did with the pots. I would love to paint the wall behind green, but I just used the extra we had from when our house was built. shelving came from home depot.
B.	My dad had these cabinets from his old office, so we put them to use. Great for hiding junk :)
C.	This is the workbench my hubby made that is on wheels. It is great to use for projects and is nice to pull out to the center of the garage if more space is needed. Idea came from one that was being sold on KSL ads but was too small.
D.	Wall and Door painting idea came from here. Like I said just painted straight on the sheetrock.
E.	We got the bike hangers from target.
F.	This panel board came from home depot. It was $50 for a 4’x8’ sheet. We would have loved to do the full wall, but would have been too expensive. So, we just cut 1’x8’ panels and lined them up together to create two strips.
G.	This is just a cheap shelving unit from Walmart $35.
H. We bought Rust-oleum at Home depot we bought enough for 500 square feet. Just follow the directions on the box. Pretty easy. A contractor who does floors said Rust-oleum is the best.
