Things have been so busy at our house lately. I have busy caulking, spakling, and painting in the basement. I have also been helping Marc with his artwork for his campaign. He has been super busy as well with work, young men’s and campaigning. We hardly see him. Most of his nights are filled with meetings with delegates. Neither of us have been to bed before 12:30 a.m. for the last month. It is crazy! I’m exhausted! So, my mom and I took off to St. George. It was a nice getaway, but I think my mom will agree it was no vacation. Four kids are a lot of work! It was fun for the kids to play at the pool and enjoy some nice weather, but I came home still exhausted :)

Ellie’s 5th Birthday Princess Party

This year Ellie turned 5, so in our family that means she was able to have a friend party. She toggled between the idea of a playground party and a princess party. She finally decided and chose the princess party. She invited 5 of her friends, Emma Erickson, Sophia Carr, Tianna Peacock, Lindsey Mills, and Anna Smith. The girls came adorned in their princess dresses. Tiaras, jewelry, and wands awaited them upon arrival. They first feasted on PB&J, fruit and veggies. They then decorated crowns while listening to princess music. While they waited for the cake, they had a princess karaoke singing session (probably my favorite part to watch :) because they were able to watch themselves sing on the TV. They were so cute singing their hearts out. After singing Ellie opened a myriad of gifts (she was spoiled by friends, but mostly by grandma) After she blew out the candles on her princess castle cake she requested, the girls devoured the cake and ice cream. It was a fun time and I think Ellie had a blast with her friends.

Talon requested a cars cake. So I took the easy approach :) I must say Talon has been a handful this past year! He is his own person. He will do anything on his own agenda. He doesn’t listen and if he acts like he does, he won’t do what you asked him to do. He is in trouble quite often. But we love him anyway. When he says, “Mom pwease sweep me” it melts my heart. He knows he has mom wrapped around his finger and he uses it to his advantage.

A Politician in the Running

So, Marc has officially decided to run for the House of Representatives. The last 2-3 years he has become interested and involved in politics. Marc approached me and asked if I would support his wanting to run for Utah House. My reply was, “Sure, I will fully support you, but that means we are done having kids.” I don’t think he took my threat seriously because he jumped right in without discussing it further :)

Basement

So we started a project back in October. We wanted to get it done by mid April. Don’t know if we are going to make that deadline. We are adding a few rooms in the basement. We have done the framing, electrical, and HVAC ourselves with the help of some talented and kind neighbors. However, Marc decided to run for Utah House of Reps., so, he won’t have much time to work down there anymore. We debated hanging sheetrock ourselves, but time and effort at this point aren’t on our side. We will be having my cousin hang, tape and mud this week. Hooray! I can’t wait! My life feels very jumbled! The kids toys are either crammed in this room, or upstairs. All of my stuff is crammed in the basement, and I can’t get to anything I need. And there is dust everywhere upstairs. I’m afraid this is only the beginning.
